Description

Promoting and maintaining inclusive interaction and communication takes effort. We may not get it right every time, but by setting carefully considered ground rules for our students and consistently checking in with our class, we encourage a culture of a more open, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment. This session will invite instructors to reflect on and apply strategies for modeling and facilitating inclusive communication.

In this session, you will:

  1. Draft guidelines for productive and inclusive student-to-student and instructor-student interaction and communication.
  2. Explore strategies to recognize, name, and address language and behaviors that intentionally or unintentionally marginalize individuals or groups.
  3. Reflect on and apply lessons learned from remote instruction.

Review resources prior to the session.
