Social (In)Justice and Mental Health | Ruth S. Shim, MD, MPH

Injustice is the main driver of mental health inequities and poor mental health outcomes, and yet, few understand the outsized role that social injustice plays in the identification, diagnosis, and management of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This presentation will examine key concepts associated with social injustice, provide clear examples of how social injustice manifests in our mental health care system, and discuss strategies for achieving social justice and health equity.
