Everyone is invited to the weekly Machine Learning Lunch Meetings every Friday 12:30-1:30pm. Faculty members from Computer Sciences, Statistics, ECE, and other departments will discuss their latest groundbreaking research in machine learning. This is an opportunity to network with faculty and fellow researchers, and to learn about the cutting-edge research being conducted in our university. Plese see https://sites.google.com/view/wiscmllm/home for the schedule and more information.
Speaker: Jordan Ellenberg (MATH)
Abstract: I’ll talk a little bit on what I’ve learned, drawn from my own work and others, about the current state of affairs in the use of machine learning techniques to advance progress in pure mathematics. I consider this a very interesting test realm for ideas about humans and machines can collaborate and I will try to convince you to feel the same!
