Description
Join us for Foraging for Beginners and learn about the most common edible flora and fauna of Wisconsin (and North America). We are excited to share with you all some tips and tricks for identifying wild plants and a process that tests a plant's edibility through a series of increasing your exposure to the natural item over time. In this class you will learn: How to ID 5-10 native/edible plants in WI Better understanding of historical uses of foraging in WI and North America Learn how to Forage for utility purposes (e.g. birch bark, medicinal plants (arnica), wipe-ables) Discuss LNT ethics when it comes to foraging and create some personal ethical LNT guidelines when it comes to foraging Learn of some foraging resources that can be used worldwide This event is open to all- no Hoofer membership required! --- Class is located in the Mendota Lodge on the water level of Memorial Union (along the lakefront and across from the Outdoor UW office) ---- If you are a person with a disability needing reasonable accommodation for this course, please contact Dan Dunne, ddunne@wisc.edu
