Description
Killian Clarke’s new book "Return of Tyranny" asks why some revolutions endure while others collapse. Drawing on global data and Egypt’s 2011 uprising, he shows how revolutionary choices—on violence, agendas, and post-victory governance—shape outcomes. Violent, radical movements often build stronger regimes, while democratic revolutions face greater peril, though survival is still possible. Clarke is an Assistant Professor at Georgetown specializing in protest, revolution, and authoritarianism.
