Description
Climate journalism has experienced a renaissance in recent years. Still, the field faces serious challenges, including ongoing industry-wide cutbacks & rising anti-science political sentiment. Hopke will discuss her research on mainstream media coverage of extreme weather events in the context of distorted representations of climate disasters in online AI slop. Hopke will also distill best practices for improving climate reporting. Open to the public; part of LSC's spring speaker series.
