Climate journalism has experienced a renaissance in recent years. Still, the field faces serious challenges, including ongoing industry-wide cutbacks & rising anti-science political sentiment. Hopke will discuss her research on mainstream media coverage of extreme weather events in the context of distorted representations of climate disasters in online AI slop.
