Dr. Kemenesi and his team were the first to isolate Lloviu virus the only filovirus known from Europe. He is a leading European virologist in zoonotic spillover and emerging infectious diseases, with work spanning Nipah virus ecology in South Asia, vector-borne disease transmission, and Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever surveillance in the Balkans. He directs Hungary's national BSL-4 virology reference lab and coordinates with VECTORACT.
