Description
Sheila Jasanoff (Harvard) argues that there are tacit rules of delegation by which a few people are authorized to know on behalf of the many. The rules for such epistemic delegation vary across countries, making up their invisible constitutions. Examples drawn from the governance of technologies such as nuclear power, biotechnology, and nanotechnology, illustrate cross-national differences in the constitutional position of science in contemporary democracies.
