La Cineteca italiana is a weekly film series that showcases a variety of Italian films with English subtitles.
This week we are screening Roberto Rossellini’s Neorealist masterpiece “Roma città aperta,” starring Anna Magnani, which takes place during the Nazi occupation of Rome in 1944. The plot focuses on Pina, a pregnant mother expecting her second child, her beloved fiancé Francesco, a Partisan and friend of the leader of the Resistance, and her son Marcello.
