Description
Brian Wright, UC-Berkeley, will discuss joint work exploring the prevalence of "weak" patents" and novel measures of patent strength. The issuance of weak patents is viewed as a fundamental problem in the patent system possibly stemming from examiners’ “rational ignorance” and pro-“customer” rules that create incentives for examiners to grant patents of dubious validity.
