BMI Seminar: Zijian Ni, PhD Thesis Defense

Graduate student Zijian Ni will present SpotClean, a probabilistic model to adjust for spot swapping, an artifact of bleeding between the spot-specific barcodes that bind mRNA in recent spatial transcriptomics experiments. SpotClean increases the power and precision of downstream analyses with highlights in improved cancer marker signals, tumor/normal delineation, and tissue annotation in cancer studies.
