You're invited to a blessing ceremony at the Lakeshore Nature Preserve, featuring the Traditional Chief Clayton Winneshiek of the Ho-Chunk Nation, the Madtown Singers, and Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin, scheduled for 3 PM, inside the stone wall at the entrance to Picnic Point (2000 University Bay Drive).
Complimentary parking will be available in Lot 130 starting at 2 PM. The site is accessible by the H. Temin Lakeshore Path and the Route 80 bus.
The university is conducting an Advanced Planning Study with the overall goal of determining the scope, budget, and schedule of a new building at the Preserve. The building is envisioned to house the Preserve staff offices and maintenance shop, multi-purpose space for support of the teaching, research and outreach mission of the University, restrooms and space for interpretive displays.
Among the goals articulated by the Project Delivery department of the Division of Facilities Planning & Management are these:

- Facilitate learning opportunities for students, facilities staff, and community.
- Provide hands on experience and understanding of natural areas and their management.
