BMI Seminar with Carolyn Uhler, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

An exciting opportunity at the intersection of the biomedical sciences and machine learning stems from the growing availability of large-scale multi-modal data. Representational learning methods do not elucidate underlying causal mechanisms. Dr. Uhler will discuss early ideas about statistical and computational framework for causal representation learning and its applications toward identifying novel disease biomarkers and inferring gene gene regulation in difference diseases.
