The widely accepted narrative of the first cities in the world has long been reliant on the high-density Late Uruk tells of the 4th millennium calBC, located in the Fertile Crescent. However, recent research offers a challenge to this view in the light of the ever-growing discovery of low-density urban sites in many continents (most recently a series of massive Amazonian sites).
