Holding Optimal Discussions in Your Canvas Course
Learn@UW Online Training - Fall 2025
Event Details
While the arrival of remote and hybrid learning has opened several doors in education, it has also introduced a few obstacles. One of those being, "How to hold a conversation when people are not physically present?"
At UW-Madison, we have access to two powerful tools -- Canvas Discussions, and Piazza -- that can help overcome some of these barriers.
In this 30-minute session, Dr. McKay draws upon personal, first-hand experience of using these two discussion platforms in a Canvas course. You will learn several strategies and best practices for holding healthy, inclusive and dynamic conversations in the modern classroom.
This session is entirely remote and will be held in a Zoom room. The link to the Zoom room is provided nearby.
This session is organized and hosted by Learn@UW-Madison. To explore other sessions related to our Learn@UW tools, search the today.wisc.edu calendar with the filter "LUW Event". For more information about Learn@UW-Madison, and the tools we support, visit https://go.wisc.edu/learnuw.
