This presentation from Vignesh Ramachandran, PhD candidate in Geography, examines how community engaged research might be one way to study the “black-box” of algorithmic and AI systems. It will begin with how Vignesh developed a collaborative research project with food delivery workers in New York City. It will then discuss how food delivery workers document and navigate algorithmic and AI systems, outlining how AI systems exacerbate social inequalities and biases.
