The Evolution of Baseball Analytics: Data, Technology, and Statistical Practice in Professional Baseball
A seminar with Tyler James Burch, Boston Red Sox
Event Details
The history of data collection and recordkeeping in baseball goes back nearly as far as the sport itself. But how that data gets collected, interpreted, and applied has changed dramatically over the past few decades. In this seminar, Tyler James Burch, lead data analyst for the Boston Red Sox, will trace the evolution of baseball analytics from early box score statistics through the Moneyball era and into the high-resolution tracking systems used today. Burch will covers how these changes have shaped front office decision-making, on-field strategy, and player development.
