Description
The Day of Silence brings attention to the silence faced by members of the LGBT community. This year’s event is in memory of Lawrence King, an 8th-grader who was shot and killed Feb. 12 by a classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender expression. Other ways to participate: wear your T-shirt, arm band or buttons; break "homophobia" piñatas on Library Mall at 2 p.m.; march silently to the Capitol at 4:30 p.m. and attend a rally at 5 p.m. Tangled Up In Blue will perform at the end.
