CLIMATE CHANGE AND HUMAN RIGHTS: LESSONS FROM THE PARIS AGREEMENT

Event Details

Date
Thursday, December 8, 2016
Time
4:15-5:15 p.m.
Description
Despite the potential for climate change to undermine protected rights, it was not recognized as a human rights issue until recently. The international community included it in climate documents in 2010 but it took several to get it in a binding document: the Paris agreement on climate change has a reference to both human rights and climate justice but left many dissatisfied. This talk evaluates human rights in the Paris Agreement and what it means for victims of climate change going forward.
