"Making sense of stem cells: Progress toward the treatment of blinding disorders" by Dr. David Gamm, McPherson Eye Research Institute

Event Details

Wednesday, February 8, 2017
7 p.m.
Pluripotent stem cells have received a great deal of attention over the past two decades due mainly to their potential to serve as an unlimited source of cellular "replacement parts" for a host of currently incurable degenerative diseases. But how close are these cells to the real thing? Dr. Gamm will discuss the past, present, and future of stem cell therapies for blinding disorders and provide a practical approach for separating hype from hope.
