Description
Synthetic biology is an innovative field with the potential to change our relationship to the natural world. It involves design and construction of new biological parts. Potential applications include replacing natural products with synthetics, reviving extinct species, and creating powerful tools to address conservation problems. However, synthetic biology is virtually unknown to the conservation community. We must investigate how conservation perspectives can shape this major emerging field.
