Description
WUD Art is excited to host two new upcoming exhibitions located in Memorial Union! Please join us for the joint opening reception of "Creative Power" by VSA Wisconsin, and "Tropicalia" by Ben Orozco. This opening will be on Friday, December 8th from 6-8pm at the Class of 1925 Gallery and Porter Butts Gallery in Memorial Union. Light refreshments will be served. "Creative Power" by VSA Wisconsin is "a lively and original art exhibition... offering a unique glimpse of the often under-recognized creative talents of people with disabilities. These objects of beauty and value are imbued with powerful meaning and reflect the distinctive journey of each artist." VSA's "Creative Power" will be showing in the newly-reopened Porter Butts Gallery. "Tropicalia" features Orozco's artwork in neon imagery. Orozco hopes to "embody the act of representing language through image and questioning the word graphic through both the form of the symbolic, as well as the vivid, colorful, and descriptive form of the adjective." Orozco's "Tropicalia" will be located in the Class of 1925 Gallery. Both exhibitions will be running in their respective galleries from December 8th, 2017 through February 2nd, 2018. We hope to see you at the opening reception!
