Ofelia García, City University of New York. This presentation proposes that the ways in which we think about language have consequences for the education of all students, and especially for language-minoritized bilinguals. We examine the perspectival shift on language, multilingualism and language education that the concept of translanguaging brings forth. We then describe how translanguaging theory opens up spaces for pedagogical practices that expand multilingual capacities of language users.
