Whenever possible, the university recommends that events and meetings continue to be held virtually; it is highly recommended that in-person events also allow for virtual participation by attendees who choose not to or are unable to participate in person. Any in-person events must follow campus policy for schools/colleges/divisions, and student organizations.
Veterans Day Recognition Breakfast
Monday, November 11, 2019
We invite you to join us for a free breakfast, in recognition of the Badgers who have served our country, including our fallen UW–Madison service members. All are welcome to stop by for doughnuts, coffee, and more (available on a first come, first served basis). The event will include a quintet performance by the Wisconsin National Guard’s 132nd Army Band and remarks at 9:30 a.m. by Bill Davis, a University of Wisconsin–Madison student and Marine Corps veteran, UW–Madison Veteran Services Coordinator Jolene Anders, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Lori Reesor, and Associate Vice Chancellor & Wisconsin Union Director Mark Guthier. At 10:30 a.m., following the breakfast, the UW–Madison chapter of Student Veterans of America will host a flag dedication ceremony on Bascom Hill. The community is invited to place flags on the hill during this event, or may submit information in a survey to have a flag dedicated for a fallen service member they know. You are also welcome to visit union.wisc.edu/goldstar for information about the Union’s history as a memorial to fallen UW–Madison service members. There, you will also find information about how the Union team helps tell these heroes’ stories.
