Between 1776 and 1783, Great Britain hired over 30,000 German soldiers to fight against the American rebels. Known as Hessians, they and accompanying civilians, incl. women and children, lived in locations from Canada to Florida. This presentation highlights their experiences on a distant continent in a war with people that had done them no harm.
