*Professor Bilge Mutlu will be giving an in-person and virtual talk about the CS PhD job market on Monday, November 27th from 12:00-1:30 pm central time. Professor Mutlu will talk for ~40 minutes, and then there will be another ~40 minutes for Q&A.

Talk Details: In this talk, Professor Mutlu will provide an overview of degree and career options for graduate students in computer science. He will cover topics including how you might think about whether you should graduate with a masters or get a PhD, whether you should go into industry or academia, and how you can prepare for these careers. The talk will also cover how students preparing for the academic job market might prepare for their job search, including preparing application materials, putting together a job talk, and surviving the interview process. Following the talk, there will be a Q&A session, so bring any questions you might have about your degree or career goals.

Bio: Professor Mutlu directs the People and Robots Lab at the Department of Computer Sciences. In his 14 years as a faculty member at UW–Madison, he has advised many PhD students who have gone on to both faculty and industry positions and involved in faculty and teaching faculty recruitment, including chairing faculty recruitment for several years. Professor Mutlu received his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University.
