As the Latino population continues to grow, Spanish-language programs in the U.S. must consider whether the assumptions and philosophies that underlie their curricular and pedagogical practices are in alignment with demographic realities, and could benefit from the insights of Latin@ Studies in making appropriate adjustments. Similarly, linguists studying Spanish in the U.S. can gain tremendously from sociologically and historically informed analyses common to Latin@ Studies.
