Shelly Chan Brown Bag. Assistant professor of history at UW-Madison. The talk revisits the famous conflict between diasporic intellectual Lim Boon Keng and May Fourth iconoclast Lu Xun while they were at Amoy University in Xiamen, China. A Straits Chinese, Lim was an Edinburgh-trained medical doctor who had led a Confucian revival movement in Singapore before becoming president of Amoy University.
