Description
Presenter Helen Caldicott is co-founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility and president of the Nuclear Policy Research Institute. Nuclear power plants create large quantities of carcinogenic mutagenic radioactive elements, some of which remain radioactive for millions of years. Catastrophic accidents which release these isotopes are just one of the problems of nuclear power plants, the by-product of which is the transient generation of electricity for 40 years.
