Description
Michael Meador, Game Changing Technologies Program, NASA. Since their discovery in the 1990’s, carbon nanotubes have held the promise to make new materials with mechanical properties far superior to those of conventional materials at a fraction of the weight. Despite lots of research activity, this goal has remained largely unrealized. NASA has recently initiated a new project to develop carbon nanotube based high strength reinforcements for use a replacements for conventional fiber.
