Jean Bennett, University of Pennsylvania professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Cell and Developmental Biology, will talk about the history, science and politics of gene therapy leading up to the Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA) gene therapy trials, progress to date, and perspectives on the future of gene therapy. Bennett led one of the first teams to demonstrate therapeutic benefits of ocular gene therapy.
