Lindsey Byom, doctoral student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, presents. Of the approximately 1.7 million people who sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI) each year in the U.S., it is estimated that 125,000 will have lifelong disability. Among the most penalizing long-term effects of brain injury are negative social outcomes.
