James Scott is the Sterling Prof. of Political Science, Prof. of Anthropology and Director of the Agrarian Studies Program at Yale University. He is the author of The Moral Economy of the Peasant: Rebellion and Subsistence in Southeast Asia, Weapons of the Weak: Everyday Forms of Peasant Resistance, The Art of Not Being Governed: An Anarchist History of Upland Southeast Asia, and Seeing Like a State: How Certain Schemes to Improve the Human Condition Have Failed.
