Russian courtrooms provide a lot of insight into current political events and the systemic deficiencies of democratic freedoms. Sevortian will explore these questions: What is the status of human rights in Russia today? Could exposure from the Sochi Olympics or events in Ukraine change anything? What are the challenges for civil society in Russia? What are the most important trends and NGOs to watch in 2014? Are there positive changes and what can be done from outside Russia to nurture these?
