Good dental health is critical towards maintaining a high quality of life and overall health. The World Health Organization (WHO) established goals to lower the number of decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) among twelve-year olds to less than 3.00 by the year 2000. In 1998, Honduras had a national DMFT of 4.0 among 12-year olds.
