China's economic ascendance challenges the relationship between political systems and economic growth. UW-Madison alumnus (’96 PhD Ag & Applied Economics) and Peking University Dean Yao Yang will describe how China, with its long-lasting and large non-democracy, has managed growth for a substantial period of time. The Chinese experience offers valuable lessons for the rest of the world, particularly developing countries seeking fast economic catch-up.
