The surfaces and interfaces of complex oxide heterostructures have attracted much recent attention in the condensed matter community due to the appearance of unexpected properties. We employ in situ synchrotron x-ray techniques at the Advanced Photon Source to investigate the synthesis of such interfaces and heterostructures as well as their behavior in fluid environments and under applied potential.
