Northern Lights Tour: Theatre on the Bay, UW-Marinette

In the late 1800’s the twin cities of Marinette, WI & Menominee, MI grew into two busy ports on Lake Michigan. The timber industry’s decline left the ports a ruinous environmental legacy. In 2009 a Citizen’s Advisory Committee set a goal to develop Menekaunee Harbor for increased recreational boating use. Dredging of contaminants was completed in 2014; continuing remediation and restoration of fish habitats promise to support the community’s development as a major regional recreation area.
