Description
Projected sea level rise in a warming world threatens people, infrastructure and ecosystems due to its effect from disastrous events like hurricanes. But quantifying future sea level rise is difficult because the response of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets to warming is highly uncertain. This talk reports a new approach to narrowing uncertainty. Drawing on recent examples of coastal risk management, I’ll illustrate perverse incentives and political obstacles to effective adaptation.
