Description
For over 3 million years American Mastodons roamed North America during the “Ice Age”. In the late 19th century, two mastodons unearthed in southwestern Wisconsin were purchased by the UW Geology Museum. Over the course of a century, one mastodon became Wisconsin’s most famous fossil while the other was virtually forgotten. Carrie Eaton will describe the composite nature of the skeleton, new developments in parsing the composite, and what we can all gain from learning to love the Mastodon.
