Saltanat Childress is a social work researcher focused on women’s wellbeing and gender-based violence in Central Asia. This study examines the experience of domestic violence from the perspective of survivors. In-depth, qualitative interviews were conducted with women survivors of violence to explore their help-seeking and coping mechanisms, as well as the role of criminal justice, healthcare, and social services in responding to violence.
