Description

As the semester winds down and we head into Wisconsin's colder months, take a moment to celebrate and recharge with the ML+X community! Join us for our annual "Gift" Exchange on Wednesday, Dec 10, 12-1pm CT, in the Orchard View room of the Discovery Building (and Zoom). Register by Dec. 8th (Panera lunch provided) to guarantee your lunch ticket and join the party.

Rather than physical gifts, we're asking everyone to share one AI/ML resource that proved useful this past year. This could include

  • GenAI and agentic tools (coding assistants, agents, RAG/chatbot tools)
  • Libraries or workflows to know about (LoRA, caching, SHAP)
  • Experiment and model management tools (MLFlow, W&B, Pixi)
  • Compute options to know about: cloud, HPC, on-prem, etc. (BadgerCompute, SageMaker, etc.)
  • Benchmarks, open datasets, and data annotation tools
  • Tutorials / workshops / training materials
  • Any resource that helped you work more effectively with AI/ML. For inspiration, browse existing resources on Nexus (and the planned additions in the GitHub Issues).

How to participate:

  • Give a 1–3 minute lightning explanation of your AI/ML resource using one slide. Presentations don't need to be polished—this is a relaxed end-of-semester event.
  • Cover the essentials: what it is, its strengths/limits, and why someone else might want to try it.
  • Add your slide to the shared slide deck by Tuesday, Dec 9, 11:59pm. Up to 16 people can present.

You're also welcome to attend without contributing a "gift" (or if the deck fills up).
