April 8 Schedule

9-9:30 (Intros & Resource Sharing): The first 30-minutes are typically focused on introductions and causal share-outs about new ML/AI tools or resources folks are using.

9:30-10:15am (Entity Matching - Dev Ahluwalia): Entity matching, the problem of figuring out which records across different datasets refer to the same real-world thing, is a pervasive problem, especially when unifying data for Data Science or AI. Our research group has built a platform called MadMatcher that handles this end-to-end: first narrowing the candidate space using TF/IDF-based blocking, then classifying pairs with an ML model trained via active learning to get high accuracy without requiring thousands of labeled pairs. We're also exploring how GenAI embeddings can fit into the pipeline. I'd love to walk through our approach, share some use cases, and hear feedback and ideas from the group.

10:15-11am (TBD): Have a demo, paper, or ongoing project to discuss? Join the discussion queue! forms.gle/F5LYqnY5TMiZrzXW6.  No formal presentation is required—this event prioritizes open dialogue and casual discussion over formal presentations. If helpful, you're welcome to bring a couple of slides (e.g., to share data, methods, or results). Many participants just bring a few key points or a rough overview of their work, and the conversation flows naturally from there.
