Barbershop Talks
Free Haircut!
Event Details
In recognition of Men’s Mental Health Month, UHS Mental Health Services hosts Barbershop Talks. For several days, Mental Health Services offers free haircuts to UW-Madison students. While students get their hair cut, they can engage in an informal conversation about their mental health with providers and their barber.
Students may choose to participate in a roundtable discussion as they wait for their appointments. Topics will include:
- Messages men receive about their emotions
- Mental health and relationships
- Navigating loneliness & creating community
- Stress, success, and pressure
How to better support men
Appointments will be available from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Drop-ins will be available from 1 – 3 p.m. Barbers will take a lunch break between 12 – 1 p.m.
