Jessica Blois, Center for Climatic Research and Department of Geography, will explore the validity of this assumption by combining fossil-pollen data in eastern North America from the Neotoma Paleoecology Database (www.neotomadb.org) with downscaled CCSM3 transient paleoclimate simulations since the Last Glacial Maximum and testing how well patterns of community change through space predict patterns of community change through time. Preliminary results are promising.
