Wednesday Nite @ The Lab

Science Festival preview: From Diatoms to Electric Eels: Teasing Secrets from Nature through Genomic Explorations

Event Details

Date
Wednesday, September 26, 2012
Time
7 p.m.
Description
Genomics enables researchers to peer into the ways organisms work by probing the sequence of DNA, the expression of genes and the interactions of proteins. Using examples of his research on diatoms and on sequencing the genome of the electric eel, which create enough voltage and power to kill anything it meets, Dr. Mike Sussman will probe into ways scientists & engineers can tap into the ingenuity of nature in making exquisite new materials and in harvesting energy for our needs.
