Description
Join the African Studies Program for our weekly Wednesday lecture series! Grey Parrot is native to the equatorial forests of Africa, but increasingly it lives in human spaces. The global demand for caged parrots has reconfigured the existence of the birds in Africa. Figures are uncertain, but ecologists estimate that habitat conversion and harvesting for the cage bird trade have reduced the population to a range of between 560,000 to 3.2 million individuals in the wild.
