This presentation is co-sponsored by the Center for East Asian Studies and the Department of Art History. Mei Mei Rado (Bard Graduate Center) draws from her book, The Empire’s New Cloth: Cross-cultural Textiles at the Qing Court (Yale University Press, 2025), which examines the understudied phenomenon of large-scale pictorial tapestry circulation from Europe to China and their role in the development of Qing imperial arts.
