“Learning-centered” emphasizes the backward design process: starting with student learning outcomes. Teachers become “architects” or “designers” of learning environments aimed at achieving student learning outcomes. This approach does not neglect the needs and interests of the individual student but brings into focus what we want a student to be able to do and know after the experience.
